| One thing
that you are going to need for your baby is clothes . . . . . and
lots of them. Luckily there are some things that you can do to help
you make sure you everything you need and not spend a fortune.
Keeping things simple and
practical will make buying clothes for your baby less expensive.
Babies will sometimes go through 3-4 outfits a day due to spit up
or leaky diapers. You will want to consider doing baby laundry at
least twice a week having a minimum of 14 outfits that you will
need on hand. There are some key things to think about while getting
clothes for your baby.
Know
your due date before you buy clothes
Depending
on when your baby is due and where they are born will affect the
clothes that you will want to buy for them. As you are browsing
for clothes, it is easy to get swept up in thinking about what is
cute and forgetting at that time your baby will be needing something
warmer or cooler.
Remember
there will be gifts
Something
you can usually count on is that as gifts you will receive a couple
of the really cute outfits that are a little bit more pricey. Therefore
if you think that you will want to dress your baby up on a couple
of occasions rather then purchasing these outfits expect them at
a baby shower. Thinking about all of this will allow you to be able
to devise a great shopping list.
Look
through clearance items
Something
you can do to save money on baby clothes is to hit the clearance
sales after a season ends. If you know that you baby is going to
be born in the summer, you'll know what size they will be wearing
that winter. So when the stores have their clearance sales for all
of their winter clothes you'll be able to get things half off for
your baby for when they are needing 6-9 months old clothes.

Will
your baby need preemie clothes
If you think
that your baby will be on the petite side, you may want to pick
up preemie cloths as well as newborn. Babies vary so much in width
and length and grow so fast that some babies need to wear 0-3 mos.
at birth. Assuming that your baby is average and will take NB at
birth is a good guess.
When
do I need to get more clothes
Depending
on how fast your baby grows will determine when you will need to
buy more clothes but you should have at least the first month before
they are born but remember time goes by so fast when a baby is growing.
Where
are you having your baby
A baby born
in the winter in Oregon will have to worry about the cold weather
a lot more than a baby born in Florida at the same time. Plus with
any season you will need lots of receiving
blankets. 2 dozen is a great amount but 1 dozen would be
okay. Remember though that a lot of newborns love to be swaddled.
Having heavier warmer blankets around for your baby it a good idea
as well for colder nights.
You may find that a lot
of the gifts that you received were not clothes. In this case you
may want to consider getting some extra clothes or if you think
that you are in for some bad weather that season, it might be a
good idea to make sure you have lots of warm clothing on hand. If
you are on a budget, and who isn't when they have a baby, then buy
some things and keep the tags on and receipts. If you know you are
going to need it, wash it and use it. This will save you a trip
to the store while your little baby is still so young. If it turns
out that you did not need it in the 30-90 days that you got it before,
return it. Just make sure that you know the store's return policy
and don't go over their limit of time you can have an item before
you no longer can return it. Don't forget to buy soap specifically
for infants to wash their clothes and diapers in.

KEEP
IN MIND
There
are two common ways to
buy baby clothes, on hangers
and in packages. You can
buy
a 6 pack of something
similar to a hanger item, the
same size with a different pattern
and save money. |
