Baby's
Diaper Changing Tips
It is hard
to imagine the staggering numbers of diapers that you will change
while your baby is not yet potty trained. With average days being
7-8 diapers (10 to 12 when they are first born), you'll discover
that a baby needs changed 7,300 times or more depending exactly
what time they decide to use the potty. However before you know
it, changing your little bundle of joy will become a thoughtless
process that becomes as normal and routine as brushing your teeth
or eating breakfast.
This may seem like it is going to be a costly expense but you might
discover that less than $375 will get everything you need for your
baby when you use cloth diapers.
Now a more costly option is chlorine free
diapers where you use flushable inserts (disposing of the waste
properly) and throw away the overall cover. They definitely can
be a nice option for traveling. But luckily before you have a baby,
all you have to keep in mind is the first two weeks of your baby's
life. For these days you will want around 160 diapers, believe or
not. Now for cloth diapers you will only
need two dozen plus some covers.
Tips
on Changing Diapers
*
Once you hear your baby dirtying their diaper make sure you let
them finish before you attempt to change the diaper.
*
If you're changing a boy especially, make sure where ever you put
the changing area that the baby's unexpected tinkling can not reach
an outlet.
*
If you are changing your baby on anything that you don't want to
get poo on, trust me put a cloth diaper underneath them. Every second
counts.
*
You will want to make sure that what ever is behind your baby boy
while changing him is not something that can't get wet.
*
Never think that you are just running to the store and not bring
an extra diaper.
*
Remember to check often because babies like to wait until you are
out of ear shot and use that opportunity to soil their diaper.
*
Watch those little feet. They love to find their way into the poo
right after you unfasten that diaper, especially if they have socks
or booties on.
*
It is a good idea to get two wet wash clothes if you know that your
baby has a poopy diaper. You may think that you can get it all with
one but you'd be surprised of how much you are going to find in
there sometimes.
*
When you set the soiled diaper down make sure it is out of reach
even for a newborn.
*
Fastened or unfastened, make sure you place those diaper pins out
of reach of your baby.
*
When your baby starts to role around it helps to give them a toy
when you are changing their diaper that way they will be less likely
to try and role away.
*
If you are feeding your baby solids and they are teething you might
cut back on acidic food to help control diaper rash.
*
In addition to diaper cream burnt flour, cornstarch and breast milk
can help with diaper rash.
