Sleeping
Safely With Your Baby
If you find
that your baby is an active baby while they sleep and you are
concerned that they may role on to their noes or mouth there are
sleep positioners that can help your baby stay in a safe position,
as well as co-sleeping items, that can
make you feel a lot better when your baby falls asleep. If your
baby naps in a crib you can choose to get a crib wedge to help
your baby sleep at a slight lift.
When it
comes to sleep time with your baby you have to do what feels right,
if you find that you and baby sleep better when you bedshare or
if you find that the baby prefers their own space at an arm's
length away from mom or dad then you may find that a bassinet
or co-sleeper works better. If you worry that you sleep too deep
to co-sleep then there is no need to feel bad that you don't,
do what feels right to you. You should not bedshare if you have
consumed acohol and you shouldn't smoke in the bedroom either,
or any other room that your baby naps in.
A night
light can make nursing and answering cries in the middle of the
night a lot easier.
