are a few words of encouragement for parents trying to conceive.
It can be disappointing to have your hopes up every month
and then repeatedly discovering that once again conception
did not happen. After several months this quickly becomes
draining and emotionally difficult to process, to some extent
you will feel a since of mourning. What can make matters worse
is if you have others counting on the good news of conception.
It is certainly not helpful to have friends and relatives
constantly asking if it has happen yet. This is why planning
to have child can some times be easier if you limit the individuals
you share the plans with. While it is definitely helpful to
have a support group, it is a good idea to establish early
on that you do not want to be bothered with questions about
the progress. What can be very useful is finding a safe online
group with people in the same boat as you. If you are finding
that you want to keep the matter private from close individuals
but have the urge to vent or ask questions, do a little surfing
and find an online community that can help you with the process.

While
I have no personal experience with adopting a child I cared
for many foster children and adopted children while working
at a daycare. As an adult that they saw on an almost daily
basis it was important to understand what I needed to be sensitive
to. So many people make the mistake of assuming that everyone
has a mom and a dad, and when you are a small child who does
not have such security of even having one parent this mistake
can ruin the child's day. If you have adopted an older child,
who does not yet call you mom or dad, it is important to communicate
with teachers and child care providers that your child comes
in contact with that you are labeled correctly. In other words
if it saddens a child to think of their mother, it will adversely
affect them when a teacher tells them to get ready for their
mom picking them up. Additionally, some children call their
adoptive parent mom or dad, but they also have their biological
parent that they call mom or dad. The more aware the adults
an adoptive child comes in contact with know about the child's
unique situation the easier it will be for them to be sensitive
and mind how they word things.

Trying to have a baby can be very exciting. In a lot of situations
though there are couples that find it to be very nerve wrecking.
It can be hard for a woman, hoping that this month will be
the month that she doesn't have her period. Each time that
her monthly cycle does happen it is a big let down. With that
being said, there have been couples that were told that they
were unable to have children and went on to have several.
Do not be discouraged if you have been trying to conceive
for a while, something to remember, odds are only numbers.
There are many options to help with conception and infertility.
If infertility is the absolute reality this does not mean
that people cannot be amazing parents. My grandparents tried
for years to have a baby, and eventually adopted a baby boy
and then a couple years later a baby girl and they were two
of the greatest and most loving parents I have ever had the
privilege to know. Once again we wish all individuals the
best of luck with starting their family.
